Some Jessie Makes Stuff resources to help keep you creative
Since it is technically springtime, you may have cleaning on your mind. Check out my Skillshare classes on organizing your office supplies and swatching and organizing your pen collection (or any art supplies) to help make it easier for you. If you don't already have an account, just use this link to sign up, and you'll not only get your first two months free, but you’ll have access to thousands of classes along a broad spectrum of topics - painting, drawing, writing, digital illustration, website building, programming, etc... It never hurts to keep learning :)
Take a minute to thank some of the people in your life and your community who are keeping the world running - like doctors, nurses, emergency responders, anyone working in a grocery store, sanitation workers, postal workers... Why not spread some kindness and gratitude around that these people are on the front lines so you can stay home and heal. I have created some Thank You cards in my shop that you can color in and customize for the people making a difference in your life. Feel free to print multiple copies if it means spreading around more kindness!
Want to color and make something vibrant to welcome spring? Why not download some coloring pages? Besides the Thank You cards, I also have a selection of coloring pages to help get your creative juices flowing. I'm planning to add more pages as I create them :)
Want to learn a new skill? Learn calligraphy from the comfort of your home either with a pen and paper, or on your iPad! Don't have the right pens or paper? Not a problem! You can easily get started learning with a pencil or a marker with a broad side and fine tip (think Crayola broad markers). My beginner's workbooks are broken down into exercises that can be completed in just 15 minutes a day to help you learn this timeless craft.
Some outside resources to give your schedule some variety
Online Calligraphy Classes - John Neal Booksellers has generously compiled a list of calligraphers teaching classes right now. (Like yours truly!) And the coolest part is, they’ve included links to supplies you may need for each class so you don’t have to hunt for them! Such a great company, and I get a lot of my calligraphy supplies from them anyway, but you can find other art supplies there as well. I highly recommend them!
Netflix Party! Have you heard about this? There is now a Google Chrome extension that allows you to stream Netflix at the same time as your friends as if you're watching together. I tested this with friends last night and it was really nice. There's a chat room where you can message each other, and you have the option to pause the movie so that if someone needs more popcorn, the rest of you can wait for them. Note - you must have Google Chrome on your device, and a Netflix account, to be able to watch.
Learn a new language (or three)! Duolingo is a great resource for learning new languages, and there's both a free version and a paid version. Currently, I'm working on learning German (almost 4 months now!) and improving my Italian. The lessons are self-regulated so you can do as few or as many as you'd like at a time. Just download the app, or use the desktop version in your browser!
Virtual Museum Tours - Google has digital images of more than 1200 institutions you can visit just through your browser! You can search by artist or historical periods, or look through specific museums.
Virtual Heritage Site Tours - Google also has access to images and tours of cultural sites around the world, like Stone Henge, Machu Pichu, The Colosseum, and the Pyramids. Check them out here!
Broadway World presents Living Room Concerts! Check out some of your favorite Broadway stars performing your favorite numbers from the comfort of your living room.
